FAQ's
What do consultations cost?
Bridal consultations are R250 for an hour-long meeting with the designer. During this consult you will be able to try on the dresses in studio and discuss your ideas, fabrics and details with Martja, our designer and owner. You will receive a design sketch and exact quote after your consultation.
Where are you based?
Our studio is based in Parkhurst, Johannesburg. Consultations are by appointment only.
Can I get a dress made by the NUPT if I live overseas or in another province?
Of course! We are very experienced in working with brides from out of town and have created many bridal gowns with no fittings at all! Provided we are able to get you accurate measurements we are confident that we will be able to deliver a perfectly fitted garment.
What should I bring to my consultation and fittings?
Should you have ideas and reference pictures, please send these to us before your consult so that we have time to look at these before you arrive. Should you wish to try on our dresses in studio, which you are welcome to do, please wear nude underwear and bring a pair of heels. We limit the amount of people who can accompany our brides to consultations to 2 special and supportive people. Too many opinions can cloud your judgment and make for a stressful experience.
*During Covid we are limiting to 1 guest for extra safety measures.
What does a custom gown cost?
Custom gowns range in price as the cost is calculated on the amount of hours that go into creating them as well as the fabric that will be used. These gowns are made from start to finish for each individual bride. Even the pattern is made to each bride’s exact measurements. Exact quotes are only given after our first consultation.
What if I don't want to go the custom route?
Having a custom gown made can be quite intimidating! If it is not for you we create annual bridal gown ranges that can be fitted at our studio. Our samples range between sizes 8 and 12. These are gowns are made up in your size and take 3 - 6 months to complete. These gowns range in price from R12 000 - R35 000.
How long in advance should I get in touch about getting my wedding gown made?
We need an absolute minimum of 3 months to complete a custom or ready to wear gown. Made-to-order gowns have a shorter production time of 3 - 6 months, while we prefer to take 6 - 12 months to allow for the detail that goes into creating our bespoke gowns and often work with our brides for over a year before their wedding day.
What if my wedding is sooner?
Should your wedding be 3 months or less away, please enquire with us anyway. If the studio can accommodate you we will endeavour to do so. However this will incur a rush fee of 20% of the gown price.
Do you do other projects, such as bridesmaids, mother of the bride/groom outfits and matric dance dresses?
We are currently focusing on Bridal gowns exclusively and do not take on other projects at this stage.
Do you hire out bridal gowns?
No, unfortunately we do not hire out bridal wear at this stage.
Do you offer accessories?
Yes, we make beautiful veils, headpieces and garters. We have a few veil options to try on when you come for your consultation, but we can also make custom pieces to complete your look.
